ice storm 2023
From Wednesday, April 5 to Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 we were without power after a big ice storm had hit the West Island of Montreal.
On Wednesday you could see the ice form on the branches of the trees and hear how many branches finally broke from the heavy weight that they now suddenly were supposed to carry.
In January 1998, 25 years ago, there had already been a big ice storm in Montreal. As nothing was done to change the electricity grid it was inevitable that we would lose power again.
Unfortunately this ice storm came and went and again nothing is changing as the provincial government in Quebec City rather wants to spend the money on ever more French language laws than on improving the infrastructure. That means a good working generator will be a necessity to have here for the forseeable future...
