Cold sore protocol, HSV-1 virus

This is a supplement to the article A permanent cure for cold sores, HSV-1 virus.

  1. Apply ivermectin paste at the first signs of a possible cold sore development. Viruses replicate very quickly. Respond within hours and don't wait.

  2. Prepare a BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene) salve and apply it about 1-3 hours after the ivermectin. This salve is made as follows:

  3. If you responded early enough then a full cold sore will not develop. The tingling feeling of the early signs of the cold sore will go away and nothing else will happen.

Late stage treatment:
Use this in case a cold sore did develop despite early treatment (usually after a few days, not hours). You stop the ivermectin and BHT treatment and you switch to this late stage wound disinfection protocol.
  1. Apply propolis tincture or a drop of iodine tincture (2% or 5% iodine in alcohol tincture, whatever your pharmacy has). Do this until the wound has healed. Iodine can be a bit irritating but penetrates the skin and acts also deep down in the skin. Iodine has strong antibacterial and antiviral activity. Try both propolis tincture and iodine tincture to see what you like better. You can also try a 10% Povidone Iodine solution. Povidone Iodine is a slow release iodine and it's less aggressive.

  2. Apply a Panthenol and Lanolin/Petrolatum cream once a wound scab starts to form. These creams are known under different names in different parts of the world: "Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment" (Canada), Aquaphor Healing Ointment (US) or "Bepanthen with Dexpanthenol" (Europe and Asia). Aquaphor feels a bit like vaseline while Bepanthen seems to have more Lanolin in it. I prefer therefore Bepanthen even if it is hard to get in Canada.
